Nosferatu from Great Lakes Brewing Company

By Rick

Don threw me a Curve- and it was a good one. We were commenting about all the great breweries springing up in Pennsylvania- then he said "Try this."

Nosferatu is made by Great Lakes Brewing Company from Cleveland, Ohio - "the north coast of America." (Don proudly hails from Ohio.)

The name of the beer comes from the German vampire in a 1920s film.

But the beer is heavenly! (That is- if there is beer in heaven!) GLB calls it a red ale, but to my eye- it poured more of a rich amber color. It has a nice hoppy fruity aroma. I couldn't wait to get a good mouthful: very playful- lots of tickle! And the hoppy finish makes you want for more!

Pair this great beer with hearty food but be careful: it's 8% ABV! Like GLB says: "it's beer with a bite"! (Nice vampire humor, huh?!) It's a seasonal beer too, so you might have to wait until the autumn to sample this tasty brew. Throw a few in your Oktoberfest/ Halloween mix; it will be more popular than bobbing for apples! (And you won't be throwing anyone a curve either!)

Cheers!
