Palmetto Amber from Palmetto Brewing Company

By Don

We wanted to go to a new place for our family vacation this year -- somewhere in driving distance, on the East Coast, a town with more than just a beach.  We'd heard good things about Charleston, South Carolina so we made our plans.

And, we thought we'd book our trip for a great time to be down south ... the last week of July!!!  Let me tell you ... it was HOT!

First off, let me say that we had an INCREDIBLE time in Charleston.  What a great town!  When you look up "southern hospitality" in the dictionary, there's a picture of Charleston.

Every meal we had was top notch.  The hotel was awesome.  Everyone was just so darn nice.  It was a great vacation.  Our two favorite meals came from Magnolia's and Five Loaves.  If you're ever in Charleston, I would whole-heartedly recommend those restaurants.

One night after dinner, our daughters went back to the hotel to watch a Harry Potter movie and Lori and I walked about a block from our hotel to a little place called the "East Bay Meeting House."  It was just a small place where you could get dessert, appetizers and drinks.

I checked the list and saw my choice right away --- Palmetto Amber from Palmetto Brewing Company of Charleston!

I do love Amber Ales.  Palmetto Amber pours to a copper color with a frothy head.  It has malty aroma with hints of fruit.

It has a nice hop kick with a tangy aftertaste.  It's crisp, almost biting.  It's a good drink and has a little more of a hop kick, bitter aftertaste similar to an IPA.

Great trip to Charleston and a good "souvenir" to bring home ... Palmetto Amber!

Cheers
