Victory Lager from Victory Brewing Company

By Don

You know, even though Pennsylvania has archaic liquor laws, we are very lucky to have some really great breweries here.

Another one of those breweries is in Downingtown, PA, near Philadelphia.  Victory Brewing Company started brewing German-inspired brews in 1996 and even trained in Germany.

I'd been wanting to review a Victory selection and since I've been trying more "fringe" stuff lately, I thought I'd go with a good old fashioned lager.

Victory Lager is a pale lager or more appropriately, a German helles-style lager.  Victory is another brewer that does a great job with their variety packs.  They have some great brews that are right up Rick's alley too -- like "Hop Devil" and "Hop Wallop."  But, he can review those.

Victory Lager pours with a nice, clear golden color.  It has a nice frothy head that dissipates very slowly.  Decent lacing on the glass and it feels good in your mouth.  Not over-carbonated.

Nice hoppy kick at first taste, but leaves a really nice after-taste.  Victory Lager is 4.8% ABV and I would say it's a very easy drinking beer.

I'm sure you'll hear more from us in the future from the Victory line.

Cheers!
