Strawberry Wheat from Lancaster Brewing Company

By Don

It's Labor Day.  I was washing the cars in the driveway.  It was a nice, sunny day.  There were still a couple hours to go before dinner.  So, I grabbed a plate of tortilla chips and went to the beer fridge for a treat.

I spotted the Strawberry Wheat from Lancaster Brewing Company.  Sounded good right about then.

You might be asking, "Where is Lancaster?"  Well, that's right, it's ANOTHER Pennsylvania brewer!  Lancaster Brewing Company of Lancaster, PA is smack-dab in the middle of Amish Country.  They have a brew pub at the brewery as well.

Now, on to the Strawberry Wheat...

This is an American wheat lager-style beer.  Nice pour.  I'd called it a "Strawberry Blonde" appearance.  Not too much of a head on the beer.  Good carbonation.

Strawberry Wheat is just 4.7% ABV and only 16 IBUs.  So, it's not too overwhelming.  If you don't like fruited beers, this one is just a nice hint of strawberry.  The Strawberry compliments the Lager, not overtakes it.  As their website says, it has a "subtle suggestion of real strawberries."

This would be another good Summer Lawn Mowing beer.

I hope you had a nice Labor Day and I hope you'll give Strawberry Wheat a try!

Cheers!
