Back Yard IPA from Cooperstown Brewing Company

By Rick

My wife, son & I took our "Great American Summer Vacation" a few weeks ago. We spent part of that vacation at the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. What a great time we had! Cooperstown, NY is a quaint and charming All-American town! Give yourself enough vacation time to enjoy more than just the HOF!

Less than 10 miles south of Cooperstown you will find Cooperstown Brewing Company. It's a relatively small and new brewery (as of 2010). Their website www.cooperstownbrewing.com states that in the late 1800s most of the hops grown in the USA came from this region. They're proud to be carrying on the traditions of small American breweries.

I tried a sampling of their 6 varieties. Great names: "Nine Man Ale", "Old Slugger Pale Ale", Benchwarmer Porter" and Strike Out Stout" just to name a few. But since I'm a "hop head", I was most interested in sampling their "Back Yard IPA".

I wasn't disappointed. It's a classic IPA- with the color, pour, aroma, taste and drinkability of those traditional "British bitters" . Pair this brew with any food combinations as you would with any other IPA. Be careful: it's a 6.1%ABV. (Not too many "extra innings"!)

Baseball and beer: enjoy both at Cooperstown, NY!

Cheers!
