Another beer from my "Chicago Sampler" was Flywheel Bright Lager from Metropolitan Brewing.
Metropolitan Brewing is based in Chicago. They brew in the German tradition. In fact, their brewmaster even studied in Munich!
Flywheel Bright Lager is a German Pilsener. It's 5.2% ABV and 45 IBU.
It pours to a golden yellow and is fairly well carbonated. The frothy head dissipated fairly quickly, but left a coating on the top and nice lacing on the glass.
There's a slight floral aroma. At first taste, I got more of a coating feeling than what I expected. I was expecting more fizz.
The taste starts off sweet, but then finishes with a nice hop kick.
If you like a good, crisp German Pilsener then Flywheel Bright Lager might be just the ticket for you! That is, if you live in Chicago. Currently, it's not available outside the Chicago area. :-(
Cheers!
