Hoppy Trails IPA from Appalachian Brewing

By Don

As you may know from reading this blog, Rick and I play in an oldies band called 'Your Dad's Friends.'  We got booked to play a WingFest at Tussey Mountain Family Fun Center.  Wings, Beer and Live Music!  What a combination!

Anyway, I checked out the beer selection and when I heard they had Hoppy Trails IPA from Appalachian Brewing, I knew what my choice would be.  Rick went to a different beer tent at first and they didn't have the IPA and he ended up with a lager.

After our show, we headed back to the beer tent for 2 IPAs so Rick could check it out too.

Appalachian Brewing is yet ANOTHER Pennsylvania brewer!  They're based out of the State Capital, Harrisburg, and they also have a few other brew pubs in other locations.

Check out their website for all their brews and locations.

Hoppy Trails IPA pours to a golden yellow.  It has a slight cloudy appearance with a nice frothy head that stuck around.  Good lacing on the glass too.

It's everything you'd expect from an IPA with a good fruity aroma.

You get the initial sweetness at first taste and then a nice hop kick gets you in the back of the throat.

It's also well carbonated and is a bit 'bubbly.'  It's 6.2% ABV

All in all, a great summer drink.  (Or fall, or winter, or spring!)

Cheers!
