In the last posting, I mentioned the "Mix Pack" that my wife brought me from Chicago. Another new brewer that I got to enjoy was Two Brothers Brewing Company from Warrenville, Illinois. She brought be several varieties from Two Brothers.
One of their year-round varieties is "Cane And Ebel" which is a red rye ale. If you're wondering about the name, Two Brothers Brewing was started in 1996 by Jim and Jason Ebel.
Cane And Ebel pours to a nice reddish color -- not too much of a head and not much lacing on the glass. It has a nice caramel or toffee aroma.
The Two Brothers website says that Cane Ane Ebel is "dry, but with a creamy touch of Thai Palm sugar and the spicy tang of rye." Then, they hop it up as it checks in at 68 on the IBU scale. It's 7% ABV.
There's a lot going on with this brew and I would put this in the "Special Occasion" category.
Cheers!
